He recently turned 24 years old on 28th May, and what better way to celebrate his birthday than topping the charts.
Mzansi rapper Lethabo Sebetso known by his stage name, Focalistic (24) went far beyond his expectations when he hit 2.5 million streams across all digital platforms upon the release of his two projects Quarantine Tarantino and Blecke.
“This is just the beginning. I’m gunning to be Africa’s most celebrated artist and to make my recording label one of the greatest labels to ever exist in South Africa’’, he tells Buzz Life.
He clearly has big plans for his music career.
But life hasn’t always been easy for the self-acclaimed Pitori Maradona.
Raised by his single mother after his father died, Focalistic says growing up in a shack was hard, but he is very grateful to his mother who worked very hard and later bought a house.
“Many people don’t know that I grew up in a shack. I look up to my mom for her hard work and resilience.”
This is why he decided to study and graduate with a degree in Political Science from the University of Pretoria before pursuing his music career.
Born and raised in Garankuwa Tshwane, Focalistic now owns a recording company called 18 Area.
“I opened my studio because I want to own my masters unlike most of my industry peers who do not own their music.”
He is known for his signature “Ase trap ke dipina tsako kasi” meaning what he does is not trap music but music from the township.
“I can’t wait for the lockdown to be pushed to a level where I will be able to perform for my people.”
