South African actress and entrepreneur Lerato Nxumalo is taking another bold step in business after revealing that she is building her very own luxury beauty salon in Midrand, Johannesburg.

The former Scandal! star recently gave fans a glimpse of the construction progress on social media, announcing that the new venture, By Lovely Suits, will be a one-stop destination for premium beauty treatments. Although the salon is still under construction, Nxumalo said she is excited to finally bring her vision to life after years of dreaming about owning a physical business.

“My first ever physical shop. Welcome to By Lovely Suits in Midrand, your one-stop luxury beauty destination.”

According to the actress, the salon will offer a wide range of services, including nails, eyelash extensions, hair braiding, luxury wigs and other premium beauty treatments. She also wants the space to offer clients a relaxing, high-end experience where they can unwind while being pampered.

The salon marks Nxumalo’s second business venture, proving that she is building a brand beyond television.

Born in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Lerato Nxumalo has become one of South Africa’s most recognisable young actresses. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a qualification in Film and Television before launching her acting career through television commercials.

She rose to prominence in 2020 when she landed the role of Dr Ndabezinhle Luthuli on the medical drama Durban Gen. Her popularity grew even further after joining the cast of e.tv’s hit soapie Scandal! as Phakamile, where she won over viewers with her compelling performances. More recently, she has continued expanding her acting career with roles on television while also focusing on content creation and entrepreneurship.

Away from acting, Nxumalo has steadily been growing her influence as a digital creator and businesswoman. Last year she launched her fashion and lifestyle brand, blaHoody, before turning her attention to the beauty industry.

Her latest venture reflects a growing trend of South African celebrities investing in businesses outside the entertainment industry, creating long-term wealth while building brands that resonate with their audiences.

For Nxumalo, the luxury salon is more than just another business, it is the fulfilment of a personal ambition.

With construction underway, fans are eagerly awaiting the official opening of By Lovely Suits, which promisesa to deliver a luxury beauty experience in the heart of Midrand.
