They have been battling to make ends meet. The legacy production company is responsible for creating some of South Africa’s iconic shows including Grassroots, Ashes To Ashes, Broken Vows, Isono, and The South African Music Awards. The award-winning company has allegedly closed its doors and selling parts of its studio.

An insider has revealed to Buzz Life News that while the production company continues, they are downgrading from their Ferndale Randburg massive studios to something more modest. “The company is not closing down, but downgrading,” the source said. “It would be incredibly sad to see them completely close down It’s been tough for many productions since COVID-19, but we hope they bounce back.”

Clive Morris lost Showmax telenovela, Empini, and Queendom after failing to pay the cast and crew. They are one of the longest-standing production companies in South Africa formed in 1988. In April 2024 staff members revealed there were three productions in total where staff had not been paid by the company. The cast and crew of BET’s drama series Queendom have written an open letter to the Minister of Sports Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie. In the letter, they slammed the government, industry organizations, and broadcasters for silently watching them suffer.
