The two are said to have been arguing about a microwave oven at their home in the East of Johannesburg when the words turned physical. His girlfriend then opened a case of assault and Mahlambi spent Tuesday night in police holding cells at the Sebenza Police station in Kempton Park.

Mahlambi appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on two charges of common assault and domestic violence and was granted R5 000 bail. After reporting the matter to the police, his girlfriend allegedly wanted to drop the charges, but the court refused as domestic violence is regarded as a serious offense.
