It’s tough times for sports broadcaster Walter Mokoena who has been struggling to make ends meet and pay his staff members.
Staff at the Joburg Post owned by Walter Mokoena have complained that the broadcaster. A staff member at the publication says there have been several delays in payments. “He has either paid us late or gave us payments in half,” the source reveals. “This time, the payment has been delayed again, and he is unapologetic about the matter, slightly arrogant to say the least.”
Another staff member says that the company run by Mokoena has also allegedly “mistreated” the staff. “A lot is happening at the company. He basically runs it like a spaza shop. I did not expect it from such a well-put-together individual like Walter, who appears to be organized in public.” The source reveals that the business has not had many adverts and revenue coming in therefore has been battling to keep it running efficiently. “It’s basically not making any money.”
Mokoena who is the father of Pearl Thusi’s eldest daughter divorced his wife Nosiviwe Vuso, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma last year. “He has not been doing okay since then. His businesses have not been going well, and he might close down the publication.” Mokoena could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
