South African media personality, actress, entrepreneur and television presenter Ayanda Matsimbe (nee Thabethe) and and her husband, Peter Matsimbe announced that they are expecting their third child, sharing the news with followers in a series of intimate pregnancy photographs.
The announcement, made on Instagram on Monday, September 21, included images showing Ayanda cradling her baby bump, an ultrasound scan and a pink cake and baby shoes that revealed she is expecting a baby girl.
“One more to adore,” she captioned the post.
The news means Ayanda and her husband, businessman Peter Matsimbe, are preparing to welcome their first daughter after becoming parents to two boys.
From two boys to a baby girl
Ayanda and Peter welcomed their first child, Peter “PJ” Junior, in March 2022. Their second son, Enzo, was born in September 2023.
The couple have generally kept their family life away from the constant glare of the entertainment industry, with Ayanda choosing to share selected moments of motherhood with her audience rather than giving fans unrestricted access to her children.
The latest pregnancy announcement therefore offers another carefully chosen glimpse into a very personal chapter of her life.
The gender reveal was presented through a pink cake, confirming that the family is expecting a girl. Friends, fans and fellow celebrities quickly filled the comments with messages of congratulations.
Among those celebrating were 947 breakfast show host Anele Mdoda, Boity, Kay Yarms, Jessica Nkosi, Lerato Kganyago and Dineo Moeketsi. Ayanda’s sister, Lungile Thabethe, also shared her excitement, writing: “Love of my life carrying the new love of my life.”
A relationship that moved into marriage
Ayanda’s pregnancy comes just over a year after she and Peter made their marriage official.
The couple announced their engagement in December 2024 and celebrated with an intimate gathering surrounded by family and friends in March 2025.
They later had a private wedding on June 29, 2025. Ayanda referred to the occasion as her “signing ceremony”, describing it as a promise made in front of God and surrounded by love.
Their growing family now enters another chapter, with the arrival of their daughter set to add a new dynamic to a household already raising two sons.
From corporate life to the spotlight
Long before motherhood became part of her public story, Ayanda built a career that moved between corporate communications, modelling, television, acting and entrepreneurship.
According to her official biography, she studied BCom Communication Management at the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2007, before completing an Honours degree in Marketing through Unisa in 2011.
She subsequently worked for major companies including Johnson & Johnson and L’Oréal before moving more deeply into entertainment.
Ayanda became one of the recognisable faces of South African television through her work as a presenter, including on BET Africa’s lifestyle programming and the long-running magazine show Top Billing.
Her television career has also included acting. In 2016, she took on the lead role of Aaliyah in Rockville season four, following earlier appearances in productions including Generations: The Legacy and the film Zion.
Away from television, she is the founder and managing director of marketing agency Buzzworthy Productions, which she established in 2011.
Balancing business, motherhood and education
Motherhood has unfolded alongside Ayanda’s professional and academic ambitions.
In 2025, she completed an Executive Master of Business Administration from Henley Business School with distinction, later travelling to London to receive the qualification.
Her career has also included brand partnerships, modelling, speaking engagements and work focused on women’s education.
Her own website describes education, particularly the education of young women, as one of the areas she is passionate about, alongside her work in entertainment, business and brand collaborations.
The arrival of another child therefore comes at a point when Ayanda’s public identity stretches far beyond television – she is now balancing motherhood with an established business career and a long-running presence in the entertainment industry.
A daughter after two sons
For now, Ayanda has not publicly shared details such as her due date or the baby’s name.
But the pink gender reveal has already given fans one significant detail – after welcoming Peter Junior and Enzo, Ayanda and Peter are preparing to welcome a daughter.
