DJ Tshepiso Rose Buthelezi, better known as Musical Rose, has been ordered by the Johannesburg High Court to remove Facebook posts found to be defamatory towards Jozi FM presenter and DJ Tshepo Junior Makgopa, while also issuing a public, unconditional apology.
The order stems from a series of Facebook posts in which Musical Rose accused Makgopa of allegedly using his influence to have her removed from DJ line-ups by promising event organisers airtime and questioning their loyalty to Jozi FM.
The court ruled that the statements were defamatory and ordered Buthelezi to delete the posts within 24 hours of being served with the order. It also barred her from making or sharing any similar allegations in future.

The court order states:
“Buthelezi is interdicted and restrained from publishing, republishing, sharing or causing to be published any further defamatory statements concerning Makgopa and Jozi FM.”
In addition to removing the posts, the court directed Musical Rose to publish “a written retraction and unconditional apology” on the same Facebook account where the original allegations appeared. The apology must carry similar prominence to the original posts and be worded in a form approved by Makgopa and Jozi FM.

The controversy dates back to allegations made by Musical Rose after she laid an assault charge against Makgopa in 2024. In her Facebook posts, she claimed that following the criminal complaint, Makgopa allegedly influenced promoters to cancel her bookings.
She wrote that she had lost at least three DJ bookings because of his alleged interference and questioned why event organisers were not willing to stand up to him. However, according to the court documents, the assault case against Makgopa was later dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
