Businesswoman and tenderpreneur, Shauwn “Mamkhize” Mkhize has released a statement after Royal AM players did not return to work following a SARS R40 million Tax investigation and unpaid salaries.

Players did not return to work and downed tools following the Festive Season break, resulting in their upcoming Betway Premiership game against Chippa United being postponed. The team was allegedly taken over by SARS for the businesswoman owing R40 million in taxes over and above the R15 million they owe to striker Samir Nurkovic after FIFA found the club guilty and handed them a transfer ban until they have settled the matter.

Players have not returned to training since. “Chippa United Football Club announces with disappointment that our scheduled fixture against Royal AM, set for 11 January 2025 at 17:45 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, has been postponed by the league with no given reason,” the club said in a statement. The club added that they had made all the necessary arrangements for the fixture.

Mamkhize has since released a statement stating that they acknowledge the hardship non payment of salaries has caused and impacted the families of players.
