Three male suspects (aged 25, 32, and 42) have been arrested following the hijacking of a courier truck on 06 June 2025. 

On Friday, 06 June 2025, at approximately 10:20, a courier truck transporting clothing from East London to Queenstown was hijacked on the N6 highway. The driver and two colleagues were accosted by three suspects wearing reflector jackets, who signaled the truck to stop. When the driver initially refused, two suspects produced firearms and forced the vehicle to pull over. The suspects then entered the truck and instructed the driver to divert to Mpongo Park.

Upon arrival, the victims observed a brown Toyota Corolla, a white Toyota seven-seater, and a red Honda seven-seater. The suspects transferred the cargo of clothing to these vehicles before fleeing the scene. 

A case was opened at Macleantown SAPS and assigned to the East London Organised Crime Unit. Following intelligence gathering, a multi-unit operation (including Organised Crime and Flying Squad) was conducted on 12 June 2025. 

At a residence in NU10, Mdantsane, a brown Toyota Corolla was recovered along with stolen goods.  At a second residence in At NU8, Mdantsane , additional stolen items were seized (suspect not present).

At the third residence in NU12, Mdantsane, a suspect was arrested, and further stolen goods were recovered alongside a gold Honda vehicle.  The operation yielded multiple brands of new sneakers (“tekkies”), ladies’ handbags, clothing, and two vehicles.  The suspects face charges of truck hijacking, armed robbery, and kidnapping. They will appear before the East London Magistrate’s Court in due course. The investigation remains ongoing.
