Renowned South African music producer and DJ opened up about his battle with partial memory loss. Kabelo “Prince Kaybee Motsamai said the health issue is beginning to worry him and prompted him to speak out is an incident that occurred when he landed at the airport and requested an Uber, only to realise later that he had actually driven to the airport and forgotten his car there.
The Gugulethu hitmaker said he is afraid of what this means for the future and his children. “I suffer from serious amnesia, and I am a bit emotional and frustrated at how my memory is deteriorating, man,” he says. “I am scared this will lead to missing life opportunities, which will make me very incompetent, and I hate that.”

He added that medical practitioners have confirmed the issue, and he in unsure of the root. “I have never smoked weed,” he said. “I have some underlying condition affecting my brain (experts say), I wonder how long I can keep what is left of my memory bank.” Not gnna lie, this is rocking me, man, I have kids to raise. Man, I’m scared; it’s really rocking me.”

Prince Kaybee’s supporters have shared words of encouragement. “I can sympathize. l developed a speech impediment through childhood trauma – when l was told my voice is too soft, people making comments like “why do you speak like that?!” It got worse when l would be intentionally ignored,” a fan said. “Oh man this gave me a lump on my throat. We’re around the same age and I have the same condition but still unsure what causes it. A scan showed that my brain was shrinking. and when I asked questions, no tangible answers were received (Government hospital),” Thuli Becana said.
