Afro-Trap rapper Sosoboy Fosho real name Sonwabile Madonela is ready to take on the world stage. His sound is a fusion of Hip Hop, R&B, and Afropop which he would distinctively describe as Afro-Trap. With high demand from his social media fans, Sosoboy Fosho is counting down just days to the release of his debut single titled Mine which is a romantic love story. “The song ‘Mine’ is a Xhosa love tale about how he met a new love interest and decided to pursue his feelings,” Sosoboy Fosho says.

Born in Mdantsane township in the Eastern Cape, his mom is a church worshipper and that is where he gets his musical gene. He started his career as a radio presenter at Mdantsane FM89.5MHz. Growing up in a challenging environment, his high school years were cut short in Grade 11 as he showed a passion for soccer, dance, athletics, and boxing. He was mentored by the popular group,  Manskap and his mom a preacher and singer encouraged him to pursue his musical dream, as he had inherited the gift from her. The first song he recorded was Gangster Gangster with DJ Ligwa & Siyanda which received much acclaim. As he prepares for his newest release, Sosoboy plans to go international.

Rooted in American Trap culture, yet with the district cultural influences of Africa, Sosoboy is unapologetic about his flows and raps. His music reflects urban African youth, love, aspirations, struggles, and style, delivered in a way that’s authentically African yet globally resonant. The single Mine, went viral on social media after it was featured as a soundtrack on e-TV show House of Zwide. It was here that Sosoboy Fosho caught the attention of international label Asanda Empires. “They played my song on one of their episodes and I posted it on my social media and it immediately gained traction. I continued posting more reels and the reception was mind-blowing. I met Asanda Empres and we have been grinding since,” Sosoboy Fosho adds. He is inspired by Burna Boy and the way he was able to penetrate the world market by being his authentic self, and hopes to do the same with his career.
