His long-awaited Gospel masterpiece titled Nyakata is here! Award-winning singer, songwriter, and motivational speaker Nkosinathi “Mphotholozi” Fakude has released Nyakata, a declaration that the time has come for worshipers to rise and worship in spirit and in truth.
“Nyakata” is a SiSwati (Nguni) term that means “move” or “hover.” Spiritually, it connects deeply with scriptures from Genesis and Exodus: “The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (Genesis 1:2) and “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” (Exodus 33:15, NKJV). It symbolizes divine movement and action,” Mphtholosi explains.
The genius single featured in his upcoming album is both a spiritual and creative milestone. It is a prophetic sound and a call for people to rise and walk in their God-given purposes. It’s a fusion of heritage and innovation, blending traditional and contemporary gospel and influencesrepresents purpose, obedience, and faith in motion. Mphotholozi describes his sound as a blend of traditional African gospel and modern gospel, making it both familiar and refreshing.
“This song is versatile. It has something for everyone deep African roots, Western harmonies, and spiritual intensity. It speaks to the heart, the soul, and the culture,” Mphotholozi adds.
Born and bred in Mayflower and currently based in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, he is a resident pastor at The Sanctuary International Church under Apostle Nogemane. “Music has been a legacy in my family. I’m a GPK (Grandparents’ Pastor’s Kid), and we inherited this calling from our grandparents. I grew up in the church, surrounded by worship and musical gifting,” he says. “Gospel music became more than art it became an assignment. This project carries that generational mantle. It has deeply impacted my life by ministering to me and affirming that the vision God placed in my heart is now alive. It’s been a journey of healing, obedience, and release.”
