She has been making music for about 20 years.
Amapiano singer and DJ Dudu “Lady Du” Ngwenya says when her big break seemed impossible, she almost gave upon.
She has previously opened up about depression and says things were worse that she almost wanted to take her on life.
“2020 I was about to give up on life, even attempted to take my life due to feeling like I had lost myself, I had nothing, lost all my friends, money, cars, I had absolutely nothing at all!,” she wrote in a post on social media.
” I then went to studio, I had tried every single genre for 15 years. Boity hired me as her song writer and vocal coach, after that episode things started changing, I had hope, I worked with @realdjbongz and @djmzu people heard my vocal abilities started calling me for sessions.”
Lady Du says she met Mr JazziQ a long time ago and they have been working together for some time.
“I’ve known @mrjazziq for a 100 years, we started working together kudala, shame he is more of a brother to me than just someone I’ve worked with. We fight like brother and sister but always find our way of fixing it.”
They started doing music sessions together.
“He knew what I was going through at the time said come take all that stress out in studio. We recorded Superstar! It worked, then when we recorded Msebenzi Wethu, I was still unhappy and depressed I chose not to sing on that song but literally cry my heart out, asking God when he will pull through for me but without words.”
She says nobody really knew how deep her depression was.
“I carried on, so Dakiwe, is not a song about being drunk it’s actually a song about depression being sooo high on suicide thoughts you want your parents to come see you and rescue you,” she says.
“But when they all dropped my whole life changed, and guess what? I decided to thank God for pulling through for me so I wrote Catalia ngoba izinto zam bezhamba ngo lyini (Because my things were going well). When I started making money I couldn’t even believe I was making, I wrote Mswipeni!
Lady Du says she went from not owning a single car to owning five vehicles.
“From December last year, to December today, I had zero cars. I now own five cars debt free. I lost my place to stay, was renting, I just bought myself a house.
So I won’t make this a status that’s going to only celebrate my achievements but I want to show u that life can change in a split second!”
She thanked the people who help make he impossible happen.
“Thank you for playing a part in my musical journey! Officially living my dreams! A female leader!”
