The Johannesburg High Court has dismissed an urgent application by Jub Jub’s mother Jacqueline “Mama Jackie” Mpambani demanding that rape claims against her son be removed from social media and that Amanda Du Pont and Masechaba Khumalo who claimed to have been raped by her son apologise publicly.

Mama Jackie had approached the high court on an urgent basis due to allegations made by Amanda, who claimed she used muti. She demanded a retraction and public apology from Amanda and Masechaba, but Judge Shanaaz Mia said granting it would be “tantamount to a gagging order.”
Advocate Vicky Olivier, says Mama Jackie alleged her life had been under threat since the publishing of those statements on social media, saying people saw her as a witch and that she was almost attacked by a mob at Southgate Mall and had seen strangers walking past her house hurling insults.
A few weeks ago, in an interview with Podcast and Chill, Mama Jackie’s son, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye was quizzed about his relationship with actress and model Amanda Du Pont and he admitted to have “smashed” a term used to refer to having sex with them. Jub Jub also claimed that his ex-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo uses muti.
Amanda reacted with a video on Instagram, accusing Jub Jub of repeatedly raping her for two years, and that she was afraid of his mom who had also allegedly been involved in criminal activity.

Adv Tembeka Ngcukaitobi also told the judge not to fall for cultural stereotyping, saying that Mama Jackie’s case is reliant on old assumptions of irrational Black people mobbing someone using muti– without any tangible evidence for these shock stereotypes about Black “culture”.
“The muti thing is a red herring. Muti is medicine. It’s like panado. The correlation drawn between muti and witchcraft (is false). Muti is like Grand-Pa.”
