The massive brawl between reality TV star Inno Morolong and Andile Mpisane has taken another dramatic turn, with claims that Morolong was allegedly offered just R5 000 to drop the assault case she opened after their nightclub altercation.
Asource close to the situation claims Morolong came under intense pressure to abandon the matter after reporting the alleged assault to police.
“She was called by several people and asked to drop the charges. She was threatened, and eventually she gave in because she was afraid, I guess. She knew she was barking up the wrong tree,” the source claims.
According to the source, Morolong was allegedly offered R5 000 in an attempt to “make the matter disappear.”forget about the whole thing and move on.”
“She was paid a mere R5 000. That is what she was told to accept. It was not about the money for her; it was about the pressure she was facing from different sides,” the source alleges.
The development comes months after the April nightclub incident at Booth in Sandton, where Morolong alleged that Mpisane and other men assaulted her during a confrontation.
At the time, Morolong took to Instagram to accuse Mpisane and his associates of attacking her, writing that she was hurt and feared for her safety. She also claimed that CCTV footage from the nightclub could show what happened. She subsequently opened a common assault case at Sandton Police Station.
Speaking after the incident, Morolong said the altercation had left her traumatised, particularly because she was already grieving the death of her mother, Moipone Morolong, who died in March after battling melanoma cancer.
“I can’t believe he beat me up, along with other men he was with,” Morolong said at the time. She also described the incident as particularly painful because she had previously spoken publicly about gender-based violence and advocacy for women.
Police confirmed that a common assault case had been opened, although no arrests had been made at the time. Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhulwi said the matter was still under investigation.
Mpisane, however, had strongly denied the allegations. His legal representatives sent Morolong a letter of demand calling on her to retract her accusations and apologise publicly. His attorney, Mpho Nefuri, said Mpisane was a hosted guest at the club and had not been involved in an altercation, arguing that the people involved were club security personnel.
“Andile was also going through his own issues and this would only make matters worse. There were people trying to convince her that pursuing the case would destroy everyone involved. Eventually, she was scared and just wanted the whole thing to go away,” the source says.
The alleged R5 000 payment, however, remains unverified. There is currently no publicly available police or court document confirming that Morolong received money in exchange for withdrawing or abandoning the case.
The claims also add another layer to a controversy that has already seen both celebrities give sharply different versions of events. Morolong has maintained that she was assaulted, while Mpisane has denied being responsible and threatened legal action over what he described as defamatory allegations.
If the allegation that money was offered to make the case disappear is true, it could raise fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding the handling of the matter and whether Morolong was pressured into backing down.
For now, the R5 000 claim remains an allegation, and any confirmation would require evidence from Morolong, Mpisane, their representatives, police or court records.
