Award-winning South African jazz saxophonist and composer Linda Sikhakhane has unveiled Days Begin To Sing, the first taste of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, LINDA.
The new single sees Sikhakhane join forces with vocalist and singer-songwriter Omagugu on a deeply reflective offering that explores the journey of discovering one’s inner purpose through love.
Produced by acclaimed pianist and composer Nduduzo Makhathini, Days Begin To Sing opens the forthcoming album with an intimate and thought-provoking sound. Omagugu’s heartfelt vocals complement Sikhakhane’s expressive saxophone melodies, transforming his instrumental storytelling into a lyrical conversation about answering the call of love.
The track also features an accomplished international rhythm section, with Kabelo Mokhatla on percussion, Cameron Campbell on piano and Rhodes, and Conway Campbell Jr. on bass. Together, they create a warm, understated soundscape that allows the melody and emotion of the song to shine.
According to the release, the collaboration reflects the spirit of Sikhakhane’s upcoming album, where musical conversations between artists form the heart of the project.
