Rapper Donovan Chad Mansoor, best known as Chad Da Don, is celebrating four years clean from drugs.
Sharing his achievement, the ‘So Cold’ artist said he did not recognise the person he had become while using.
“Today marks four years clean from my cocaine addiction. I look back and don’t recognise the man I see when I look at the pics. I nearly died from being in a really dark space and having mental health issues, overdosing on drugs, and getting caught up in the wrong things.”
He shared words of encouragement for those like him, who are on the brink of giving up.
“No one said it would be easy, but I promise you it’s worth it. Don’t give up.”
Chad’s mom, Norma Mansoor, expressed how proud she was of her son for the recovery.
“God heard my cries, saw my tears, every day trying to keep it together for Chad,” she said.
Chad was previously engaged to singer Kelly Khumalo. It was almost like a fairytale romance before things went sour.
“We split up, but there are no bad vibes. Her husband-to-be is out there somewhere, and I will also find my wife one day. I’ve been through a lot, and Kelly’s love was medicinal … My heart feels sore, but there is no pain God cannot cure. Kelly and I had a good run. We were blessed with a great time, but now it’s over.”
Chad da Don moved on from his high-profile relationship with singer Kelly Khumalo in 2019, quickly debuting a new romance with model Carlla Poggenpoel.
