Phillip Thosa, also known as Brother Enigma (55), has been accused by his lover of being involved in a sex scandal and has been threatened with sharing compromising videos of the missionary.
According to reports, Brother Enigma and the woman had been in a relationship for over a year, during which she publicly alleged that he broke her virginity with promises of marriage. She claimed to have discovered that he was unfaithful and sleeping with several women behind her back. The woman said she is in possession of video evidence and chats to support her claim.
Brother Enigma has come forward to clear his name. He acknowledged that he indeed was in a relationship with the woman and had proposed marriage, but she was not ready.
“I have known her for five months. She works Monday to Sunday and gets time off for a month. On her off day, she visited our church, and this is when she caught my attention, he said.
“She is 29 years old and turning 30 years old, and not 24 as reports have indicated. She was beautiful, and I fell in love because she speaks SeSotho.”
The staunch Christian, who is 22 years her senior, said he was serious about the relationship.
“I love her. I was smitten. I am not a child; I don’t need to explain myself. I fell in love with her, and that is the long and short of it.
Brother Enigma dismissed any claims of virginity taking scandals.
“She started making threats when I reprimanded her about something she did, which I will divulge to protect her dignity. I called her out, broke things off with her, and she is angry. I told her that I no longer trusted her, and she then started making threats. She threatened to expose me. She threatened to share my pictures on social media. I took it to the congregation.”
Brother Enigma said the woman was sent by “the forces of darkness” to bring him down.
“I know nothing about virginity breaking and scandals. She has come back to apologise. I do not sleep with her. I don’t even know where she might have gotten her pictures.”
Enigma added that people would go to great lengths to destroy his name.
“It’s all a distraction from the Gospel, and I will not be shaken.”
