The Ficksburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has arrested a 34-year-old man from Ionia Farm for the alleged rape of a 3-year-old boy.
The suspect was reportedly left in the care of the child by his girlfriend, who had attended a funeral at a nearby farm.
It is alleged that between 3 and 4 October 2025, the mother of the toddler left him with her boyfriend while she went to the funeral. When she returned, the child shocked her by reporting that the boyfriend had sexually assaulted him.
The mother immediately alerted the police, and the child was taken to hospital for medical examination. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
