The man (32) who is wanted for allegedly killing a community patroller last week was found in a house in Soshanguve, Tshwane, hiding behind a fridge.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Team acted on a tip-off they received, from an anonymous number.

JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed the arrest. “Officers located the suspect who matched the description at a specified residence; they entered the property and managed to search it,” they said in a statement. “While searching the premises, he was found hiding behind a refrigerator in the kitchen. During the arrest, an unlicensed firearm and one live round of ammunition were found in the suspect’s possession.” The firearm was seized and submitted for ballistic testing.
