Lekompo producer Mvzzle and his team have expressed their heartbreak after being involved in a fatal car accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian while they were travelling to a performance in Limpopo.
The accident happened on Friday night while the producer and his team were travelling to a scheduled gig in Lephalale. A pedestrian allegedly crossed the road in Shongoane 2 before the vehicle struck her. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the woman was declared dead. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
In a statement released by his management, Mvzzle’s team said they were “deeply saddened” by the tragedy.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we address the tragic incident that occurred on Friday night,” the statement read.
The management explained that while travelling to Lephalale, “we were passing through Shongoane 2 when a pedestrian crossed the road. Unfortunately, we were involved in an accident and struck her. We immediately stopped, called for help, and emergency services responded swiftly. The South African Police Service arrived first, followed by paramedics, who sadly confirmed that the pedestrian had passed away at the scene.”
The team said they wasted no time in reaching out to the victim’s family.
“On Saturday, our team reached out to the family to request a meeting. The family kindly agreed, and on Sunday we sat with them. They received us with dignity, grace, and understanding. As we all know, an accident is something no one can plan for or foresee.”
Mvzzle’s management said they had accepted responsibility for ensuring the victim receives a dignified burial and would continue supporting her loved ones during the difficult period.
“During our meeting, we expressed our heartfelt condolences and took full responsibility for ensuring that their loved one is laid to rest with the dignity and respect she deserves. The team has assigned members who will remain with the family throughout the week to ensure that all arrangements are handled with care and that nothing is left unattended.”
Describing the emotional impact the tragedy has had on everyone involved, the statement added: “This loss has deeply traumatized us as a team. We are heartbroken, and we carry the weight of what happened with us every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this incredibly difficult time.”
The statement concluded with an apology: “We are truly sorry for what happened, and we will continue to do everything in our power to support the family.”
