Well-known events venue Slotjhile Pub and Shisanyama in Thembisa, Gauteng has announced its official closure after months of uncertainty.
In a statement released by the management, shared that from 3 March, the venue will no longer be operational.
“We hereby wish to formally inform you that Slotjhile Pub and Shisanyama will be closing its operations effective from the 3rd of March until further notice,” the statement reads.
They said the decision was made after careful considerations.
“We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and everyone that we have had the privilege to serve delicious meals, celebrate your milestones, and become part of your stories. It has been a pleasure serving for the past nine years. We appreciate the support and the relationship we have shared,” the statement reads.
Slojtile Pub and Shisanyama had employed more than 30 staff members, including outsourced service providers.
A security personnel at the establishment shared his disappointment with the news.
“This is where I was making my bread and butter. This is how I put food on the table for my family. It means I have to go and hustle somewhere else. It’s life, what can I say?” he said.
“At least they gave us some time to try and find something, but it’s sad. So many people will be losing their jobs.”
The venue thanked their clientele for the loyal support.
