Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety Mgcini Tshwaku has revealed that following investigations, police have identified a woman as a person of interest in the murder of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras.
The woman is alleged to have been a former tenant at the Zambesi Building in Johannesburg’s CBD, where DJ Warras was shot.
Police have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the killing of DJ Warras which happened on Tuesday.
DJ Warras was shot and killed outside the Carlton Centre on Commissioner and Von Wielligh Streets, in Johannesburg on 16 December 2025.
Reports indicate he was found lying on the pavement in pool of blood. He had four gunshot wounds on his chest and on gunshot wound on the chin. There were three cartridges and one live ammunition next to the body and a 9mm firearm next to him. The witness allegedly reported that the deceased was driving in a silver VW Golf 6. He parked it at corner Von Weiligh. He was approached by three males who fired shots at him. He managed to run and tried to draw his firearm but did not manage to fire any shots. Nothing was taken from him
Five people have been taken in for questioning so far.
Tshwaku said police are working around the clock to get to the bottom of the case. DJ Warras had secured five protection orders before his murder.

The individuals reportedly living at a hijacked building, where Stock was managing the security. Stock’s company, Elite VIP, secured the security contract.
“There’s a woman as well cited to be the kingpin, she’s cited also in the protection order. The woman is a woman of interest. There’s a committee there that has been threatening Warras and some of them have been saying that because he’s trying to take them out then they will see them in the bush hence he had to go and get a protection order.”
