DJ and Producer AirBurn Sounds, real name Thabo Mahundla is counting down the days to the release of his single ‘Parmalaat’ featuring OHP Sage on Friday 30 August.
The single Parmalaat is a dedication to all the beautiful women across the world. Closing off Women’s Month’s month, AirBurn Sounds honours women. “The song is coming out on the last day of Women’s Month and is a fun upbeat Amapiano and dance song relatable for everyone.”
AirBurn Sounds explain the title Parmalaat is a play on the dairy company’s name. “It was a play on a slang word describing a fine, beautiful woman. So, when you compliment a gorgeous woman, you’d say ‘Gwano ke parmalaati jo.’ So it was a play on the slang word complimenting a beautiful woman. “The song is an ode to all the beautiful women out there, giving them a compliment. It’s a fun dance song, something you play in the summertime while driving along the beach or with friends. It’s playful and nothing too serious. My music has been very motivational and addressing the longing for success, so the song, is just a fun and playful song.

He also recently signed a deal with US-based company Cr8tive Tribe. “It has been long overdue. It’s something we have been discussing for a few years. I was at another label before this and Open Mic prior to that, while under Strangefruit Management. So, the deal sounded great. They will be releasing my full EP which we will tout in the US and the UK,” he says.

He describes his dance music style as universal. “I am a versatile producer. I started out making Afrobeats, Hip-Hop. But I can make Gospel and any sound really,” he says. “Currently, I am making Amapiano mostly, it’s our South African sound, proudly so and we should never limit ourselves. We are exporting the sound and I hope to do more collaborations with people outside of South Africa.”
