Former TV star turned bodybuilder and philanthropist Hlubi Mboya-Arnold has stepped down from her job as ambassadorship for the World Food Programme organization.

She shares the news that for 17 years, she has been doing amazingly as a national ambassador against hunger. “After nearly two decades, I’m stepping down from my work with @WFP. I believe in many things #WFP does,” she shared. “I’ve worked with incredible humans at. @WFP_SAfrica. The time has come for me to think, move, and work differently. Thank you,” Hlubi said. “As one of the longest serving Goodwill Ambassador and Advocate Against Hunger, I am stepping down from my role with the UN @worldfoodprogramme. After serving for 17 years and being appointed Goodwill Ambassador over 14 years. I believe in many things #WFP does; particularly in nutrition, food system transformation, school meals, and girls’ education. #WFP is full of incredible humans, committed to making a difference in war-torn, conflict and famine areas,” she added.

Hlubi WFP back in 2007, when she was playing Nandipha Sithole who was HIV positive on SABC 3 soapie Isidingo. “After a long and dedicated time at #WFP, I am shifting my engagements onto a broader set of human rights issues. One of the most influential proponents of activism is that I will continue to work to build a more equitable, just, and inclusive international system,” she said. “At the same time while the world is facing complex, multifaceted, and interconnected crises; my portfolio will continue to include women’s empowerment and girls’ education on the African continent. I am grateful for the privilege and opportunity to have worked with so many outstanding #WFP field officers and colleagues doing lifesaving work on the African Diaspora.”

She says she will do everything in her power in the years to come for the most vulnerable people across the continent. “After almost two decades of working with the UN system I feel it’s time for me to work differently; engaging directly with the private sector, entrepreneurs, and local organisations and supporting their advocacy for solutions.
