Breitling South Africa is honoured to welcome World Cup Rugby Winner Canan Moodie as a new squad member. The South African professional rugby player currently plays for the Bulls in the URC and the South African national team, the Springboks. Moodie helped South Africa claim their fourth Rugby World Cup title this October 2023. He was only 20 years old when the Rugby World Cup began, making him the youngest member of the team when he scored a try early in the tournament.

To celebrate this partnership, Breitling’s team in South Africa hosted Moodie at the Breitling boutique in Sandton City, Johannesburg, where he received the Superocean Heritage Chronograph 44 – in a black dial, stainless steel strap and 18k red gold case.

During his visit to the boutique, Canon Moodie said: “I haven’t been this happy since we won the World Cup. I look forward to working with a brand like Breitling, which has the same passion for the sport of rugby as I do.”

Commenting on the partnership, Ian Piguet, Managing Director of Breitling South Africa said: “Canan epitomizes succeeding against all odds. His humble and friendly demeanour, belief & incredible grit and determination define his inspirational journey.  We are delighted to have him as a member of our squad.”

Since 2022, Breitling has held the title of exclusive luxury watch partner to Six Nations Rugby.  In celebration of this partnership, the brand has formed a Rugby Squad of ambassadors and introduced a limited-edition series of Chronomat B01 watches earlier this year. Not only joined in attitude, but the collaboration between Breitling and the Six Nations racks up many more points. Both strive for excellence through action while delivering an ethos of teamwork, inclusivity, integrity, and creativity. They also share a heritage: Breitling was founded in 1884, while Six Nations Rugby can trace its roots back a year earlier, to 1883.
