Today she celebrates her first birthday without her husband and singer Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo. The Big Nuz band member died in December 2022 after suffering from two strokes, one after an event and the other while in hospital under medical supervision and care.

Mampintsha left his widow, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” with their toddler and a lot of responsibilities. It was reported recently that the couple had signed another deal with Showmax for a new season of their show and Uthando Lodumo. Babes Wodumo has also had to continue with the agreement and record her life after Mampintsh’s death.

Babes’ parents have also been reported to have moved into her Durban home to help support her through mourning. But speaking to Buzz Life News, Babes says times have not been easy but she is coping. “God cannot give me something I cannot handle,” she says. “It has not been easy, but I am fighting for my life, my family and my son. cannot let my son down,” she says. Babes adds that she has taken over Mmapintsha’s Origional Shandis clothing and gin brand. “I had to take over from him to make sure the business continues. My husband was taking care of families, including ours and I need to continue doing the same.” It was rumoured that the eLamont singer had lost their home after it was repossessed but Babes says that could no be far from the truth. “I’m at home as we speak, on my couch. It’s been hard but I am staying positive. People always have something negative to says. It has been tough, but I will be okay.”
