Renowned Jazz singer Gloria Bosman has passed on at 50 years old.
The singer’s family confirmed that she died after a short illness. “It is with profound sadness that we share that in the early hours of this morning, we lost the rock of our family; a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister Gloria Bosman who came to fame for her soulful and soothing voice,” the statement reads. “After a short illness, she transcended peacefully at her home, surrounded by family.”
The family says that Gloria devoted her life, not just to her family but to her music. “She loved her music. She loved and she was adored by many in South Africa and beyond it’s borders. Her fans were part of her large and extended family that she always put on her best stage performances.”
Fans and friends have shared their messages of condolences with the singer’s family. Sipho Hotsix Mabuse said, “So sad, gutted. Rest In Peace my dear friend,” he wrote. “Thank you for sharing the stage and sharing your gift with us all. Am shattered – Love and respect Sipho and the hot band.”
