Scandal! actor Ayanda Daweti and author Siyabulela Ngcangca, joined forces with Ikamva Lethu Foundation to donate 158 school shoes to children at Herschel village, Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape.
Founded by Singatha Mbobo, Msimelelo Mtabane and Thembelani Sithole; Ikamva Lethu aims to assist disadvantaged communities.
“Giving back is part of who we are as Africans,” says Ayanda.
“Many families suffered financially because of the pandemic and it is important for us to help where we can.”
The schools with beneficiaries included Zava Primay School, Wittebergen JSS, Mehlomakhulu Senior Secondary and Lungisani Primary School.
“All the funds and donations came from friends and individuals who wanted to help. We hope to make this an even bigger initiative where every gives what they can,” Ayanda says.
