Seneziwe Sanelly better known by her stage name Moonchild recently took to social media to call out Mzansi radio stations for putting her song Askies on ice due to its alleged vulgarity.
An outraged Moonchild said radio stations have been playing songs that objectify women, but her song celebrates womanhood.
“Dear SA radio stations! The way you choose to shut a woman down for celebrating our bodies and play men that talk about a$$ as objects. I have something to tell you! How about we take videos of how the song makes us feel? That could be a start! It’s more about us (women),” she said.
“Now you gonna take down a song that makes every single woman feel confident. Askies! I’m sorry. What’s your problem? South African radio stations can’t be about the ideas that you’re doing where kids feel fat.”
Moonchild has pleaded her supporters to write a petition that demands the song to be played on the radio because “it makes kids and mothers confident.”
