Pitch Black Afro and late wife Catherine Modisane

Rapper Pitch Blak Afro, real name Thulani Ngcobo has been released form jail. The department can confirmed that his sentence expired on 18 August 2023. He was one of th eprisoners who benefited from the special remission of sentence. The rapper was initially sentenced to 10 years in prison, of which five were suspended, with effect from 19 June 2020, for the death of his fiancé Catherine Modisane.

Pitch Black Afro, was found guilty of culpable homicide by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg for the death of his wife, Catherine Modisane. Judge J du Plessis maintained the State did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ngcobo had planned to kill his wife beforehand, according to the report. He added that Modisane died of blunt force trauma to the head.

“The deceased was found dead on 31 December 2018 and the cause of death was blunt force trauma, which could have been caused by the accused hitting his wife’s head against the wall. It was confirmed by the accused that he pushed her and she hit her head against the wall. His confession was provisionally admitted, and it should now be admitted as evidence,” prosecutor Matshiliso Moleko said at the time.

Department of Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed to Buzz Life News that the rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison, of which five were suspended, with effect from 19 June 2020, for the death of his fiancé.
