Durban DJ and music producer DJ Sox and wife Gloria Bluebird are mourning the death of his 10-year-old son, Busa, who passed away on Sunday after battling severe pneumonia and spending two months in intensive care on life support.
In an emotional tribute, the grieving father described his son as brave and said he was proud of the fight he put up throughout his illness.
“My precious Busa,
“On Sunday, I lost you at the tender age of just ten years, and my heart is broken. You battled horrible pneumonia and spent two months in ICU on life support. My boy, you fought a good fight. You were so brave, and I am so proud of you,” he wrote.
The DJ opened up about the devastating reality of losing a child, expressing the pain of knowing he would no longer be able to hold his son.
“No parent can ever be ready for the pain of losing a child so young. I miss you more than words can explain, and it hurts knowing I won’t get to hold you again,” he said.
Finding strength in faith
Despite the heartbreak, DJ Sox said his faith in God was helping him navigate the loss, even as he struggled to understand why his son had died so young.
“Even through this heartbreak, I trust God and His will, though I may not understand it. I believe you are resting safely in His loving arms and that you will be one of His beautiful angels,” he wrote.
The father also reflected on the difficult days ahead as the family prepared to lay Busa to rest, asking for strength as he learns to live with the pain of losing his son.
“May God give me strength as we lay you to rest on tomorrow, and in all the days beyond, as I learn to live with the pain of missing you,” he said.
DJ Sox thanks doctors, nurses and supporters
Amid the family’s grief, DJ Sox expressed gratitude to the friends who had supported him and his wife during their son’s illness and following his passing.
“To all our friends who supported my wife and me through this difficult time, thank you. Your love, prayers and kindness have helped carry us through, and we are deeply grateful,” he wrote.
He also paid tribute to the medical professionals who cared for Busa during his two-month stay in intensive care, acknowledging their efforts to save the young boy’s life.
“To all the doctors who did their best to save Busa’s life, and the nurses who cared for him throughout these two months, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We deeply appreciate your dedication, compassion and every effort you made to save our boy,” he said.
Concluding his tribute, the grieving father reaffirmed his love for his son and the lasting place he would hold in his heart.
“I love you, my boy. I’m going to miss you every day, and I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life.
“Rest peacefully, my precious son. I love you, Busa.”
