ANC Youth League president Collen Malatjie and his wife, Tsholofelo Sekete, have officially said “I do” in a wedding celebration that brought together political heavyweights, delegates, friends, family and well-known personalities in Tafelkop Boleu, Limpopo.
The wedding, held in the Sekhukhune area, was a glamorous affair, with guests dressed to impress and the celebration carrying the kind of political and social star power expected when one of the country’s prominent young political leaders gets married.
Malatjie, who was re-elected as president of the ANC Youth League at its national elective conference in Limpopo in December 2025, has remained a visible figure in South African politics.
A political crowd turns out
The guest list brought together senior political figures, ANC and ANCYL leaders, delegates and prominent personalities from across the country.
The gathering reflected Malatjie’s wide political network, with politicians, youth league comrades, delegates, traditional and community figures and members of the couple’s families among those who attended.
Malatjie’s connection to Tafelkop is also not new. He has previously taken part in youth and community programmes in the area, including an NYDA career guidance programme at Tafelkop Stadium in 2024.
Tafelkop itself has strong traditional and political significance in Limpopo. The area falls within the Bakgaga Ba Kopa community, whose traditional leadership and history are closely tied to the region.
A-list faces and delegates
The celebration was not just a political gathering.
A mix of A-list personalities, well-known figures, political delegates and guests from the couple’s respective circles turned the wedding into one of those events where the guest list was almost as closely watched as the bride and groom.
From politicians and ANC Youth League delegates to business and social personalities, the room reflected the different worlds Malatjie and Sekete move in.
The atmosphere was distinctly celebratory, with guests enjoying the music, fashion, food and entertainment as the newlyweds were surrounded by their closest people.
The bride and groom take centre stage
While the political conversations were inevitably part of the gathering, the day belonged to Malatjie and Sekete.
The couple exchanged vows in Tafelkop Boleu, with the wedding bringing together their families and wider circles for the milestone occasion.
For Malatjie, who has spent much of his public life in the political spotlight, the wedding offered a rare opportunity to step away from political battles, conferences and public statements and celebrate a personal milestone.
He currently serves as president of the ANC Youth League, a position that places him at the centre of the ANC’s youth political structures. A 2026 South Gauteng High Court judgment also identifies him in that capacity.
Flashing lights, fashion and serious glamour
There was little about the celebration that suggested a low-key affair.
The wedding was flashy and glamorous, with guests pulling out their finest looks for the occasion. From the bridal party to the VIP guests, fashion was clearly part of the programme.
The venue was transformed for the celebration, while the presence of political delegates and high-profile guests added to the spectacle.
It was a wedding where the cameras were never far away – and where the guest list included enough political and entertainment names to keep conversations going long after the formalities were over.
From politics to a new chapter
Malatjie’s political career has made him a familiar face in South African public life.
He was first elected ANCYL president at the league’s national conference in 2023 and was re-elected in 2025, when the organisation’s top six leadership emerged unopposed. Almost 4,000 delegates attended the Limpopo conference.
But in Tafelkop, the focus was firmly on the man behind the political title.
Surrounded by family, friends, comrades, delegates and prominent guests, Malatjie and Sekete marked the beginning of their marriage in a celebration that was every bit as colourful, star-studded and politically connected as expected.
