Pop superstar Lady Gaga has welcomed her first child with her fiancé, entrepreneur Michael Polansky, marking a new chapter for the Grammy-winning singer.

Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, is 40. Polansky, 42, is an entrepreneur and technology investor. The couple have largely kept their relationship private, particularly in recent months.

A new chapter for Gaga

The arrival of Gaga’s first child comes after years of the singer speaking publicly about her desire to become a mother.

In 2025, Gaga described motherhood as her hoped-for “next starring role”. She had also spoken about wanting children and building a family with Polansky.

A source quoted by PEOPLE said the couple are embracing parenthood and have taken time away from work to spend with their newborn. The source said the pair “both beam” when they talk about becoming parents.

Gaga completed her Mayhem Ball tour in April 2026 after a major run of international performances. Reports say she subsequently stepped back from the public spotlight, giving herself and Polansky time to focus on their family.

Gaga and Polansky’s relationship

Gaga and Polansky began dating around 2020, although they were first publicly linked in late 2019. Their relationship became more visible during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the couple spent an extended period together in Malibu.

Their engagement was confirmed in 2024 after Gaga was seen wearing an engagement ring and later introduced Polansky as her fiancé during the Paris Olympics.

The relationship has also extended into Gaga’s professional life. Polansky has been involved in creative projects with the singer, including work connected to her music.

What is known about the baby

The couple have chosen to keep most details about their child private.

The baby’s name, sex and exact date of birth have not been publicly disclosed. Gaga and Polansky have also not publicly explained how the child was welcomed into their family.

Reports have noted that Gaga did not publicly announce a pregnancy, and there is no confirmed public information establishing whether she carried and gave birth to the child or whether another route to parenthood was involved.

The couple’s decision to keep those details private comes as Gaga continues to balance an intensely public career with a desire for a more private family life.

A long-held dream

For Gaga, motherhood has been a subject she has discussed for years, well before she and Polansky became engaged.

In a 2025 interview, she spoke about wanting her future to include Polansky and their children. She has also previously spoken about allowing any future children to develop their own identities rather than simply being defined by their famous mother.

Her transition into motherhood now comes after more than a decade at the centre of global pop culture, during which she has built a career spanning music, film, fashion and performance.

For now, Gaga and Polansky appear to be keeping the focus on their new family life, with the details surrounding their newborn remaining largely private.
