The death of Nigerian-British businessman and social media personality Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo has taken a fresh and bizarre turn after questions were raised online about why news of his death only became widely known months after he reportedly died in Thailand.
Ubiribo, also known as Tiny, Denisi and Ego, died in Bangkok in the early hours of March 6, 2026, aged 43. His death was only widely reported in September after details from an inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court emerged.
The delay has fuelled speculation on social media, with some commentators questioning whether the businessman could have staged his death, particularly because of his previous legal troubles in Nigeria.
However, there is currently no credible evidence that Ubiribo faked his death.
His death was reportedly in March
According to evidence presented at the London inquest, Ubiribo was in Thailand with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, when he underwent a cosmetic penis-enlargement procedure at an unnamed clinic.
The procedure involved injections of about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine.
Afterwards, Ubiribo and Allen reportedly went for a massage at their hotel. He complained of chest pain and lost consciousness twice before being rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital.
Doctors reportedly suspected a pulmonary embolism and recommended a CT scan, but Ubiribo lost consciousness before the scan could be completed.
Medical staff then attempted CPR for more than 100 minutes.
He died on March 6.
A subsequent UK postmortem found material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the procedure.
Pathologist John du Parcq told the inquest that the material found in Ubiribo’s lungs matched the substance used in the filler injection.
Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently concluded that the cosmetic procedure caused a pulmonary embolism that resulted in his death.
Why was his death only revealed months later?
The unusual timeline has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the case.
While Ubiribo reportedly died in March, his funeral was held in London in May, where Nigerian music star Davido was among those reported to have attended.
The details of the circumstances surrounding his death only became public months later following the coroner’s proceedings.
That gap has prompted questions online about why the public was not immediately given a detailed explanation.
Some social-media commentators have gone further, suggesting that the delayed revelation could point to a deliberately staged death.
Those claims remain speculation.
The available medical and legal evidence tells a different story: a death occurred in Thailand, a body was subsequently examined in the UK and an inquest reached a conclusion about the medical cause of death.
The drug-trafficking allegations
The renewed interest in Tiny’s death has also brought an old Nigerian criminal investigation back into the spotlight.
In April 2023, Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency declared Ubiribo and his wife wanted.
According to the NDLEA, the couple were allegedly the “arrowheads” of an international drug-trafficking syndicate operating from Los Angeles.
The agency alleged that the pair were connected to the recruitment of teenage girls into the illicit drug trade.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said investigators had linked the couple to people allegedly operating the drug network in Nigeria.
The agency said two other suspects, Edward Omatseye, also known as Montana, and Nnochiri Chidinma Promise, had already been charged before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The case was connected to illicit consignments allegedly being shipped into Nigeria.
The NDLEA said Ubiribo and Allen had been invited for questioning but did not submit themselves to the agency.
According to the agency, the couple initially responded through legal representation and sought more time to honour the invitation before subsequently going incommunicado.
NDLEA chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa said efforts would be made to ensure that those accused faced the consequences of their alleged actions.
The 32.70kg drug seizure
The case became particularly serious after authorities linked the investigation to a major drug seizure.
TheCable reported that the NDLEA had allegedly connected Ubiribo and Allen to 32.70 kilograms of “loud”, a potent form of cannabis, which authorities said had been concealed inside cartons of used clothing and seized at Lagos airport in 2022.
The NDLEA subsequently described the couple as alleged leaders of an international syndicate operating from the United States.
These were allegations by the Nigerian anti-drug agency. Ubiribo was declared wanted but the available reporting does not establish that he was convicted of the allegations before his death.
So, could Tiny have faked his death?
That question is now circulating widely, partly because of the timing of the public revelation and partly because Ubiribo had previously been wanted in connection with the NDLEA investigation.
But there is a major distinction between a suspicious timeline and evidence of a staged death.
The current evidence does not establish that Ubiribo faked his death.
The London inquest heard medical evidence concerning his death in Thailand, while a UK postmortem identified material in his lungs consistent with the filler used during the procedure.
The coroner ultimately ruled that the cosmetic procedure caused the fatal pulmonary embolism.
Until credible evidence emerges contradicting those findings, claims that Tiny is alive or deliberately staged his death remain unsubstantiated.
A lavish life ends in controversy
Ubiribo was known for displaying an extravagant lifestyle online and reportedly had about 185,000 Instagram followers.
He owned properties in London and Los Angeles and became particularly known within Nigerian and Zimbabwean celebrity circles.
His 2022 wedding to Allen in Zimbabwe attracted considerable attention, while Davido was among the prominent personalities associated with his social circle.
His funeral in London was also reported to have featured an elaborate gold coffin.
Now, months after his reported death, the circumstances surrounding Tiny’s final days have returned him to the headlines – not because authorities have announced evidence of a fake death, but because the delayed public disclosure has collided with his controversial past and the serious allegations once levelled against him.
For now, the official account remains that Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo died in Thailand in March from a pulmonary embolism linked by the coroner to the cosmetic procedure he underwent there.
