Music legend Oskido is set to receive one of the country’s highest music honours when he is presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32), taking place on 15 August 2026 at the iconic Sun City Superbowl.
The legendary producer, DJ and music entrepreneur will be honoured by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) for his remarkable contribution to the country’s music industry and his enduring influence as an artist, producer, executive, entrepreneur and cultural pioneer.
The recognition comes two years after Oskido received the prestigious RiSA Chairperson’s Award at SAMA30, further cementing his status as one of the key figures who have helped shape South Africa’s musical landscape.
His latest accolade places him among an illustrious group of South African music legends whose careers and contributions have left an indelible mark on the industry.
Unati Gwija, SAMA spokesperson, said the Lifetime Achievement Award was about more than simply recognising longevity in the entertainment industry.
“The Lifetime Achievement Award is more than a recognition of longevity; it is a celebration of those whose artistry has shaped the soundtrack of our nation, inspired generations and paved the way for the next wave of South African talent. It reminds us of the importance of honouring our cultural architects while they are still with us to witness the impact of their life’s work.”
Oskido’s influence stretches across generations of South African music, with his work as a producer, DJ and music executive helping shape the development and growth of local sounds and the broader entertainment industry.
The 2026 SAMAs are backed by a major partnership involving the Motsepe Foundation, the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), SA Tourism, SABC, the South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA), the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO), RiSA, RiSA Audio Visual (RAV), MNM Funerals, Settlers Media, NX and IOL.
Beyond celebrating music, SAMA32 is also being positioned as a major driver of tourism and economic activity in the North West Province, bringing artists, music fans, industry professionals and visitors to the region.
Gwija said the awards provide an opportunity to create economic opportunities for businesses and creatives while showcasing the province as a leading cultural and tourism destination.
