Arsenal and adidas have officially unveiled the club’s new away kit for the 2026/27 season, reimagining one of the most iconic football shirts of all time while celebrating the Gunners’ rich history following their Premier League title-winning campaign.
The new navy strip pays tribute to Arsenal’s legendary “Bruised Banana” away jersey, famously worn between 1991 and 1993, with a modern interpretation that blends heritage, performance and contemporary football fashion.
Featuring the return of the adidas Trefoil logo, the kit celebrates one of the club’s most memorable eras while looking ahead to a new chapter as the reigning Premier League champions.
The original Bruised Banana shirt has long been regarded as one of football’s most recognisable and beloved jerseys, becoming a symbol of a successful Arsenal side that left an enduring mark on the game. The updated design aims to honour that legacy while inspiring the current generation to create new memories.
To mark the launch, adidas and Arsenal have released a series of short films under the theme “Every shirt has a story,” highlighting the personal journeys that connect players, club legends and supporters to the new strip.
The campaign features first-team stars Declan Rice, Chloe Kelly and Riccardo Calafiori, alongside Arsenal legend Ian Wright, British rapper Little Simz and a number of supporters, sharing career milestones, childhood memories and matchday traditions that ultimately lead to the unveiling of the 2026/27 away shirt.

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori said wearing a shirt inspired by one of the club’s greatest designs carries special significance.
“We’re all looking forward to playing in this kit, we know the impact that the Bruised Banana has had on our supporters, you only have to see how many still wear it today to understand how much it means to the club,” he said.
“We’re proud to wear something with such history attached to it and use that as inspiration as we continue to push ourselves forward. It’s our turn to create our own legacy at the club, we’ve enjoyed so many amazing moments with our supporters but we’re hungry for more. We want to keep winning, keep creating special memories together and give our supporters even more reasons to be proud of the team.”
The shirt is built on a navy base and features a bold geometric graphic inspired by the original Bruised Banana pattern. The contemporary redesign combines navy and yellow tones to create a distinctive visual identity while maintaining a strong connection to Arsenal’s past.
Red and yellow detailing on the Trefoil crew-neck collar and throughout the jersey adds contrast, while the Arsenal crest sits alongside the iconic adidas Trefoil logo, reinforcing the blend of football heritage and modern streetwear culture.
Beyond its nostalgic design, the jersey has been engineered for elite performance. It features adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology, designed to regulate body temperature through advanced moisture management and strategically placed ventilation zones, while specially engineered lightweight fabric provides enhanced comfort on the pitch.
The full 2026/27 away kit is completed with matching navy shorts and socks featuring coordinated red and yellow accents, creating a bold, unified look.
The new Arsenal away kit is available immediately from selected adidas retail stores and online through adidas South Africa.
