Veteran broadcaster and sports presenter Joe Mann is leaving Jacaranda FM after seven years, bringing an end to a memorable chapter at one of South Africa’s biggest commercial radio stations.
Jacaranda FM confirmed that Mann’s final sports bulletin on The Drive with Rob and Roz will air on 31 July 2026, marking the end of a stint that began in 2019. During his time at the station, Mann became a familiar voice for listeners, earning a reputation for his energetic sports updates, quick wit and engaging on-air personality.
Announcing the news, Jacaranda FM Managing Director Vuyani Dombo thanked Mann for his years of service and contribution to the station.
“We want to thank Joe for his dedication and the significant role he has played in our broadcasting team over the past seven years. He has been a valued part of our journey, and we wish him nothing but the very best as he embarks on his next chapter,” Dombo said.
Reflecting on his departure, Mann shared an emotional message about what the station has meant to him, revealing that his time at Jacaranda FM reignited his passion for broadcasting.
“Being a part of the Jacaranda FM team has been great. It reignited my love for radio and creative content that made you think, feel and laugh. The station and the people who work here will always have a special place in my heart,” he said.
He also reflected on the deeply personal moments he experienced while at the station.
“They have been there through the challenging time of losing my parents to hearing LaMo’s first cry on radio. It’s sad when a chapter ends, but it’s also an opportunity to look back and appreciate. Thank you, Jacaranda FM,” Mann added.
Before joining Jacaranda FM in 2019, Mann had already built an impressive career in South African broadcasting, having worked at several major radio stations over more than two decades. At Jacaranda FM, he became an integral part of the afternoon drive team, delivering sports news while also entertaining audiences with his trademark humour and storytelling.
While Jacaranda FM has confirmed Mann’s departure, the station has not yet announced where he is headed next or who will replace him on The Drive with Rob and Roz. For now, listeners will have one final week to hear the much-loved sports presenter before he signs off from the station and begins a new chapter in his broadcasting career.
