Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance has donated US$40,000 (approximately R660,000) to Rachel Kolisi’s Falling Forward Foundation, a contribution that has helped close the final funding gap for a major healthcare initiative that will benefit hundreds of vulnerable South Africans.
The donation will support the foundation’s Healthcare Initiative, delivered in partnership with The Impilo Project, enabling 670 people to receive vital medical, dental, mental health and social support services.
According to Binance, the contribution ensured the programme could move ahead after the remaining funding shortfall was covered.
The company said it chose to support the Falling Forward Foundation because of its measurable impact in communities and its commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable South Africans through practical interventions.
The healthcare programme provides comprehensive support, including primary healthcare services, dental treatment, psychological support, mental health counselling and social care for individuals who often have little or no access to these essential services.
Rachel Kolisi, one of South Africa’s best-known philanthropists and social impact leaders, founded the Falling Forward Foundation after years of community work through the Kolisi Foundation. The organisation focuses on restoring dignity and creating opportunities for vulnerable communities by addressing critical needs such as healthcare, education, food security and youth development.
Kolisi has built a reputation as a passionate advocate for women, children and underserved communities. Beyond her charitable work, she is an entrepreneur, speaker and author who has used her public platform to champion social justice, equality and community empowerment.
She first rose to international prominence alongside former Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, South Africa’s first Black captain to lift the Rugby World Cup in 2019.
