Police are investigating a case of murder after discovering the bodies of a man and a woman in holiday accommodation in Margate on the Kwa-Zulu Natal south coast on New Year’s Day.

Police spokesperson Paul Magwaza says the couple is believed to have been on holiday with family.

He says it’s reported that the mother of the woman heard an argument and then gunshots emanating from the couple’s room.

Magwaza says the mother went to investigate and found the deceased couple with gunshot wounds. The couple is believed to be from Witbank.

A 9mm Beretta pistol was found on the scene by police.

It is further believed that the couple was on holiday from Witbank in Mpumalanga.

“A case of murder is being investigated and a second count of inquest as well,” said Saps.
