Karabo Lipson Matlala (23) was arrested on Monday, 13 October 2025 by Wolmaransstad police on the N12 road (between Klerksdorp / Wolmaransstad) outside Wolmaransstad.
The accused’s arrest stems from an incident wherein he allegedly visited a motor dealership in Orkney and pretended to be interested in buying a vehicle.
Whilst test-driving the vehicle, he stopped at a shop on the N12 road in Klerksdorp and asked the dealership representative to go and buy them a cool drink but drove off with the vehicle. The vehicle was successfully traced, stopped and recovered.
Matlala appeared before the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, on charges of possession of a presumed stolen vehicle and vehicle theft. He was remanded in custody until Friday, 24 October 2025, for a formal bail application.
