Model and media personality Blue Mbombo says she has been subjected to death threats, verbal abuse and emotional torment, alleging that prominent businessman Thami Ndlala has been behind the intimidation.

In a statement released on 2 October, Mbombo said the situation had escalated to a point where she could no longer deal with it privately.

“As South Africa has been confronted with brutal cases of GBV, a similar scourge has been haunting my personal space. I hoped I could deal with it discreetly and privately. However, it proved too egregious a monster for one woman to contain,” Mbombo said.

She said she had decided to speak publicly because she believed her safety and that of her loved ones had to take priority.

“For the past few months, I have been subjected to death threats, verbal abuse, and emotional torment by the prominent businessman, Thami Ndlala, who also hired people to intimidate me,” she alleged.

Mbombo further claimed that the situation became particularly serious when threats allegedly extended to her child.

“My naivety had led me to believe that he would grow tired and stop. Instead, he persisted, and things got worse. On several occasions, he made death threats. It was at that point, when he threatened the life of my child, that I felt it was enough,” she said.

Case opened and protection order granted

According to Mbombo, she has opened a case with the South African Police Service and says the matter is supported by substantial evidence.

“A case has been opened against him with the South African Police Service (SAPS), supported by substantial evidence, and an interim protection order has been granted against him,” she said.

Mbombo said her decision to speak out was not intended to turn the matter into a public battle, but rather to protect herself and her family while the legal process continues.

“The decision to speak is not about seeking a public fight or damaging his reputation. But to protect myself and my loved ones from physical, mental, and reputational harm, and to allow the appropriate legal processes to take their course,” she said.

She has also appealed to the media and members of the public to exercise caution when reporting on the matter, particularly where her child and family are concerned.

“I respectfully ask the media and everyone to treat the matter with sensitivity and, above all, to respect the privacy and safety of my child and family,” she said.

What allegedly happened between Mbombo and Ndlala?

A source familiar with the situation claims that Ndlala had initially been assisting Mbombo with personal matters relating to the father of her child.

According to the source, the relationship later deteriorated following a fallout.

“She decided to break ties with him,” the source said.

The source further alleged that after the fallout, Ndlala embarked on what they described as a smear campaign, allegedly sharing private information about Mbombo with bloggers.

These claims have not been independently verified and are separate from the allegations contained in Mbombo’s statement.

Who is Thami Ndlala?

Ndlala is a prominent South African businessman with interests in property and hospitality. He is also widely known publicly as the husband of television and radio personality Lerato Kganyago.

He is associated with Ndlalayesizwe Real Estate and has been behind several high-profile property developments. In 2025, Ndlala acquired the former Sterland Mall in Arcadia, Pretoria, and renamed it Ndlala Mall. The development is part of a broader mixed-use property and hospitality portfolio.

Ndlala has also attracted media attention over business-related disputes. In February 2026, the Johannesburg High Court ordered Ndlala and his company to be evicted from a property in Northcliff and restrained them from harassing or intimidating representatives of the property owner.

In January, the City of Tshwane also took enforcement action against properties linked to Ndlala over outstanding municipal accounts. City officials said Ndlala Dynasty owed R2.3 million in electricity charges, while another property had accumulated significant municipal arrears.

Those business and property matters are separate from Mbombo’s allegations.

Ndlala’s response

At the time of publication, Ndlala’s response had not responded to the allegations.

Mbombo has said she intends to allow the relevant legal processes to take their course while prioritising the safety and privacy of her child and family.
