Tebogo Thobejane is stepping into a new chapter, announcing the return of her podcasting journey with a new show, Beyond The Glow with Tebogo Thobejane.
The actress, entrepreneur, media personality and podcaster teased the project on social media, describing it as a brand-new chapter following her earlier City Girls platform.
“We’re not City Girls anymore. We’ve evolved. We’re back, we’re grown, and we’re better,” Thobejane announced. “Welcome to a brand-new chapter: Beyond The Glow. Real women. Real conversations. Real…”
The announcement suggests the new podcast/talk show will continue her tradition of having candid conversations with women, while reflecting her own evolution over the past few years.
From actress to outspoken media personality
Thobejane is best known to television audiences for her role as Belinda on Muvhango, but her career has stretched far beyond acting.
She has built a profile as an entrepreneur, influencer and podcaster and previously launched City Girls with Tebogo Thobejane, a platform that tackled issues affecting women, including relationships, beauty, ageing, business, mental health, GBV and financial abuse.
The new project appears to take that concept into a more mature phase, with the title Beyond The Glow signalling conversations that go deeper than appearance and the polished image often associated with celebrity culture.
A survivor who nearly lost her life
The timing of the new venture is particularly significant given everything Thobejane has experienced.
In 2023, she survived a targeted shooting while travelling on the N1 near Sandton. She was shot in the foot while the friend travelling with her was seriously wounded.
The incident became one of the darkest chapters of her life and resulted in Thobejane leaving South Africa for a period because she feared for her safety.
She has since spoken publicly about the trauma of the attack and the impact it had on her.
“I am a survivor,” she said in 2025. “I survived a targeted shooting – an act meant to silence me. I have survived the brutal weight of online bullying, defamation and relentless character assassination.”
She added: “Through it all I found purpose in my pain.”
The attempted murder case has continued through the courts, with businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and other accused facing charges connected to the alleged attack.
Thobejane has also described the emotional toll of surviving the shooting, including the trauma experienced by the friend who was with her.
Her health journey is another part of the story
While Thobejane has had to deal with serious trauma, she has also been publicly documenting another kind of transformation – her health and fitness journey.
In July, she revealed that she had lost 4kg while committing herself to a more disciplined lifestyle.
Her routine included going to the gym four times a week, taking 3g of creatine daily, using magnesium before bed, getting eight hours of sleep and avoiding alcohol.
But Thobejane has stressed that her transformation is not simply about losing weight.
“I’m no longer just chasing the number on the scale. I’m shaping and sculpting my body into the strongest, healthiest and most confident version of me,” she said.
She has also encouraged women over 40 to reject the idea that ageing means their best years are behind them.
“To every woman over 40, please don’t think your best years are behind you. They’re not. Your 40s can be the beginning of the most beautiful chapter of your life,” she said.
Her message has been consistent: the transformation is rooted in discipline, confidence and choosing herself.
“The glow up isn’t luck, it’s consistency,” she said while sharing details of her routine.
Beyond the body and the headlines
The new show comes at a point when Thobejane appears determined to move beyond being defined by the controversies and traumatic experiences that have dominated parts of her public life.
Her story has included acting success, entrepreneurship, public scrutiny, surviving an alleged assassination attempt, leaving the country for safety and rebuilding her personal and professional life.
She has also turned some of those experiences into advocacy. In 2025, she launched the Botlhale Foundation, speaking openly about surviving the shooting and the abuse and threats she says she experienced online.
That makes Beyond The Glow particularly intriguing.
The title suggests that Thobejane is interested in what exists underneath the image – the woman behind the celebrity, the experiences behind the confidence and the stories behind the transformation.
A new chapter for Tebogo
For Thobejane, Beyond The Glow appears to be about more than simply returning to podcasting.
It represents an evolution from City Girls and comes after a period in which she has had to confront some of the most difficult experiences of her life while continuing to reinvent herself.
With the promise of “real women” and “real conversations”, the new platform could give Thobejane an opportunity to bring together the issues she has long spoken about – women’s lives, health, confidence, trauma, relationships, success and starting again.
After surviving a shooting that changed her life and embarking on a new health journey, Thobejane is now inviting audiences to look beyond the surface.
