Music legends Brothers of Peace (B.O.P), Liquideep and Mdu have been unveiled as the first wave of artists set to perform at Oskido’s Big Day Out, with organisers promising a nostalgic celebration of the songs that defined generations of South African music lovers.
Returning to Huddle Park in Linksfield, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 28 November 2026, the annual festival will once again bring together some of the country’s most influential artists for a full day of music, culture and entertainment.
Curated by veteran producer and music icon Oskido, the festival has built a reputation for celebrating South Africa’s rich musical heritage while also creating a platform for today’s chart-toppers and rising stars.
Leading the first phase of artist announcements are award-winning house duo Liquideep, kwaito pioneer Mdu, and legendary production duo Brothers of Peace (B.O.P), made up of Bruce “Dope” Sebitlo and Oskido. Their music has become part of South Africa’s soundtrack, with timeless hits that continue to resonate across generations.
From township street parties and packed nightclubs to family gatherings, road trips and major festivals, the artists’ music has remained a fixture in the lives of many South Africans.
Speaking about the festival, Oskido said the event has always been about celebrating the music that brings people together.
“Big Day Out has always been about celebrating the music that connects us all. These are artists whose songs became part of our lives. They gave us classics that still fill dance floors today, and it’s only fitting that we honour their contribution while bringing people together to create new memories as we do every year,” he said.
This year’s edition is expected to be the biggest yet, with organisers introducing two stages to offer fans an even broader musical experience spanning house, kwaito, amapiano and hip hop.
Fans can expect an emotional journey through decades of South African classics, from Liquideep’s soulful sound and the unmistakable grooves of Brothers of Peace to the infectious energy of Mdu. Collectively, the artists represent an era that helped shape the country’s dance music identity while inspiring countless musicians who followed in their footsteps.
