The Vision Comes Full Circle: 12 songs. 10 artists. One groundbreaking South African music video experience like never before.
Riding a wave of unstoppable creative energy sparked by the groundbreaking Cotton Fest Mixtape, the University of Cotton Fest Creative Programme (UCF) officially unveils the release of the official Cotton Fest Mixtape music video — a one-of-a-kind visual feast and an unprecedented concept produced by the platform, seamlessly blending 12 songs into a single, cohesive mashup experience. This powerful visual extension of a cultural movement continues to shape the future of South African hip-hop.
Produced by Bianca Naidoo and Lindsay Gray, the music video stands as a full-circle tribute to the late Riky Rick’s enduring vision: to give young people every opportunity possible, by creating an inclusive platform that amplifies emerging voices, celebrates authenticity, and connects grassroots talent with broader industry opportunities.
Conceptualized by Creative Director Chelsea Pitt of ByNine Agency, the video brings the Cotton Fest Mixtape to life through a dynamic, immersive visual narrative — capturing the raw energy, diversity, and collaborative spirit that defines the programme. Styled by Boogy Maboi, the visual identity reflects the bold, unapologetic essence of a new generation of creators.
Featuring notable collaborations with MashBeatz as the producer and Wordz on the song Fan of Me with PEGG and Risky T RSA, the music video elevates the mixtape’s sonic landscape into a multi-dimensional experience, bridging sound, style, and storytelling.
MashBeatz’s involvement serves as a cornerstone of the project, as he continues to lend his veteran expertise and signature sound to the UCF Creative Programme. His dedication to mentoring the “class of 2026” underscores his relentless passion for the South African Hip Hop industry, ensuring that the next generation of artists is equipped with a sound that is both world-class and deeply rooted in local culture.
More than a visual release, the Cotton Fest Mixtape music video represents a “360-degree” expression of the Cotton Fest ethos – where music, fashion, and youth culture intersect. It underscores the programme’s ongoing commitment to working at grassroots level, creating meaningful opportunities for young artists to develop, collaborate, and step confidently into the spotlight.

“This music video is about honouring a vision that has always been bigger than the moment,” says Creative Director Chelsea Pitt. “We wanted to capture the energy of discovery — that raw, unfiltered creativity that happens when young artists are given the space to be seen and heard. It’s not just a visual; it’s a living, breathing ecosystem of talent.”
“Every frame is intentional. From styling to set design, the goal was to reflect the authenticity and diversity that defines the Cotton Fest community. This is a celebration of culture in motion – rooted in the streets, but reaching far beyond.”
Bianca Naidoo emphasizes the deeper purpose behind the project:
“The Cotton Fest Mixtape music video is a continuation of Riky’s dream – creating access, breaking barriers, and building a legacy that empowers the next generation. This is about giving young creatives a platform that not only showcases their talent, but validates their voice and their journey.”
