Dennis Hlako-Mabetwa, the suspect who was sought in connection with the brutal attack of a woman and the murder of another woman, has been found dead.
Hlako-Mabetwa, who was on the run after allegedly attacking a woman with a sharp object in Mookgophong and later strangling his partner to death in Seshego on Monday, 26 January 2026, is believed to have committed suicide.
He was found hanging inside his home in Mookgopong on Friday afternoon, 30 January 2026. Emergency Medical services were summoned to the scene, where he was certified dead.
The cases of attempted murder and murder, which had been transferred to the Provincial Tracking Team for further investigation and manhunt, will now be handled in line with standard SAPS procedures, including an inquest docket to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police investigations into the incidents remain ongoing.
