Former Vuma FM presenter and activist Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is expected to hand herself over to authorities this morning for allegedly inciting public violence.
According to a statement released by the March and March Movement on Monday, the police have decided to charge Jacinta for alleged comments linked to violence against illegal immigrants.
“Police service has decided to criminally charge our leader and founder Mrs Jacinta Ngobese Zuma, for allegedly inciting public violence against illegal immigrants,” the statement reads.
“Our leader is a law-abiding citizen and will hand herself over at the police station, in order to be formally charged and appear in court,” it said.
“We note the attitude of the State towards the South African citizens who are merely fighting for the rights of the disenfranchised and downtrodden people of South Africa,” the movement said.
Ngobese-Zuma and her movement have been very vocal and repeatedly raised objections over the alleged admission of undocumented foreign nationals at schools.
March to March staged a protest against immigrant children’s school placements at Addington Primary.
They protested outside the gates of Addington Primary School on behalf of South African pupils, who the group alleges were not placed there.
South African Police Service (SAPS) were lined up at the school’s gate as the group continued its chanting.
“For an undocumented child to be documented, it means their parents must be documented first. So, they double as Home Affairs now, aiding illegal immigrants to get papers?” Ngobese-Zuma said.
“Our movement is not a vigilante group; it abides by the laws of the Republic and in its endeavour to vindicate the rights of the neglected South African citizens. We have come to the conclusion that indeed it is easy to arrest and abuse voters and taxpayers while foreign nationals, who are here illegally, continue to sell drugs and illicit goods unabated.”
