The Nkalakatha Festival was Scheduled to take place in Nasrec Expo Centre on the 20 December 2025. But due to unforeseen circumstances, they had to cancel.

They promised fans, Kwaito music giants and a combination of other genres with a dash of Amapiano to keep the crowds entertained. They said an overflow of drinks and food would be available along with a jam-packed line-up including the likes of Mdu Masilela, Chomee, Lady Du, Trompies, Boom Shaka, Mgarimbe, Mbali Ngidi, Arthur Mafokate, Professor, Sbu Malawyer, Pitch Black Afro, Bongo Maffin, Rethabile Khumalo, DJ Christos, Toss, Nkalakatha boyz, Squatter Camp, Mzambia, Busiswa, Alaska, Nkiyase, Ralf Gum, Mafikizolo, and Dashline.

After a big announcement and sponsors for the tribute concert to late Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala , the organisers and Mandoza’s wife Mpho Tshabalala have revealed the event will no longer be happening.

The Nkalakatha Festival was Scheduled to take place in Nasrec Expo Centre on the 20 December 2025. But due to unforeseen circumstances, they had to cancel.

“The Nkalakatha Foundation regrets to inform the public that the highly anticipated Nkalakatha Event has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances until further notice,” the statement reads.

“A new date will be communicated in 2026, and we remain committed to ensuring that the event delivers the exceptional experience our supporters and partners expect. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate the continued patience and support of our community.”

Tickets were available at Webtickets, pick n’ Pay and Boxer and prices range from R350 to R1860. A portion of proceeds will go towards the Nkalakatha Bursary Fund, empowering young South Africans through education and opportunity.

The organisers have not mentioned refunds for purchased tickets.
