Police have opened an inquest docket, after a pilot died when the helicopter crashed on a farm outside Patensie a town in the Eastern Cape today, 10 November 2025.
It is alleged that a female crop duster pilot (43) died instantly when the Robinson helicopter crashed on the Roodegrond farm after hitting power lines.
Police in Humansdorp opened up an inquest docket after a pilot died when her helicopter crashed on a farm outside Patensie on Monday morning.
Patensie is a farming town in the Eastern Cape that lies 90km west of Gqeberha and roughly 25km from Hankey.
Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the 43-year-old female crop duster pilot died on impact when her Robinson helicopter crashed on the Roodegrond farm after hitting power lines.
Police said it is believed that the freak incident occurred at about 07:45, when the helicopter was spraying crops at the farm outside Patensie.
The identity of the deceased pilot is withheld until a formal identification process is concluded.
