The case against actress and Queen Modjadji casting director Nolwazi Shange has been postponed until 30 January 2025.
While her bail terms remain the same, Shange, who appeared at the Brixton magistrates’ court on Friday, will have to prove her innocence.
Witness statements and investigations have been the cause of the delay in the case. The prosecutor advised a later date to gather all the information.
A case of theft was lodged against her by the production team of the TV series Queen Modjadji, about the rain queen of the Balobedu people of Limpopo.
In 2024, Shange allegedly stole R700,000 from the production set of the popular Mzansi Magic show. This is after she allegedly manipulated invoices from agencies that provided extras while working as a casting manager for the production company Rhythm World in October 2024.
According to the allegations, she changed banking information and amounts, rerouting the money to an unidentified business that was purportedly connected to her, and failing to pay the agencies.
In March 2025, Shange appeared at the Johannesburg magistrate’s court after Rhythm World filed a fraud case following an internal investigation.
The case was moved to the Brixton magistrates’ court, where she appeared on Friday on charges of fraud and cybercrime.
Following a brief appearance at the Brixton magistrates’ court on Friday, the case was postponed to September 26 to allow for further investigations.
Shange is out on R5 000 bail, which was granted during her court appearance in March.
This came after the former Scandal! actress and her husband, Mzwandile Ngubeni, whom she had been married to for 13 years, got divorced.
